WE HAVE TO TALK November 29

What does your child need to compete in the future?

Harsco CEO Derek Hathaway (an Academy grandparent!) offers his advice Thursday, November 29, at 7:30 p.m. in McCormick Auditorium at our fall WE HAVE TO TALK session. His topic is "Preparing our Youth to Thrive in a Shrinking/Expanding World."

Hathaway, an international businessman and community leader, will speak about his personal experiences building Harsco into a multinational corporation.

Please join us for this enlightening talk. RSVP to Linda Whipple, Director of Communications, or call 763-7811.

Special event for special people

We're looking forward to seeing the grandparents of our Early Childhood and Lower School students tomorrow (Tuesday, November 20) for Grandparents/Special Friends Day. Our teachers and students have been preparing for weeks with musical numbers and displays. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m.

We ask parents, however, to remember that this event is intended for grandparents only. We have limited parking and auditorium seating. If our special visitors have difficulty getting around, we will try to accommodate additional family members attending the event to assist them.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Community shows appreciation

We have received letters and notes from a number of community organizations, thanking us for the work our students performed last month on Community Service Day. "Your kind efforts have helped to make our shelter sparkling clean and more inviting for our residents," writes Linda Grudi of the Interfaith Shelter for Homeless Families. "We appreciate your giving hearts and hard work."

Bookfair a huge success

Thanks to everyone making purchases at the Barnes & Noble bookfair earlier this month, our librarians will receive a $567.34 gift card to spend on books and other items for the school. Way to go!

Easy way to help our school

One of the easiest ways you can make a difference is to sign up for Box Tops for Education. It's easy, free and you'll learn about new ways to help our school earn extra cash.

Auction fever... it's catchy

Why should parents have all the fun?! During the week of November 27-30, your child can participate in the first of five monthly raffles of amazing "every-kid-wants-it" items! Every child will be permitted to donate $1 per month to be eligible. The winning name will be drawn and prize given on November 30.

Parents, you'll think the kids' items are awesome, but wait until you see what's in store for you Auction night, Saturday, March 15, 2008, for Vegas Vibe. Stay tuned!
