Harrisburg Academy is located on 24 acres about one mile west of
the beautiful Susquehanna River in Wormleysburg, PA. All four divisions
of our school are housed under one roof. This allows younger students
to observe and learn from older students and older students to serve
as role models.
The Academy’s most recent building program concluded in 2001
and included major renovation and new construction. Special areas
include the 250-seat, newly refurbished McCormick Auditorium, the
Louis Lehrman Gymnasium, a Middle and Upper School library, a Lower
School library, the John Butler Gallery (dining room with student
art on display), Middle School science labs, Upper School science
labs, a Middle/Upper School computer lab, a Lower School computer
lab, an art suite, a music/band room, a choral room and special HATS
(Harrisburg Academy Threes) rooms that include sleeping areas.
Included on campus is a wooded area used by the science department
for nature study. There are three newly installed playgrounds for
children through age 12. Two athletic fields provide space for games,
practices, and recess play. Four tennis courts round out the athletic
facilities.
Twelve local school districts provide transportation to and from
the Academy for students residing within their districts. In addition,
the Academy operates its own buses to and from Hershey and Carlisle
at a slight additional cost.
