MS Schedule and Important Reminders Letter The Middle School years often are a time of dramatic changes – physical,
intellectual, and emotional. These changes are taking place at
a time when the world is also changing at a rapid pace. We recognize
that these challenges present unique and wonderful opportunities
for young people and for their teachers. Acknowledging the energy,
openness, and enthusiasm characteristic of early adolescents, we
have created a program that will empower your child to develop
his or her potential in a broad and rigorous course of study. Our
curriculum is designed to offer meaningful opportunities for learning
in a nurturing environment that both challenges and inspires. At Harrisburg Academy, the Middle School is comprised of grades
5-8. Core curricular offerings include math, English, science,
history, and foreign language. In addition to choosing Spanish
or French, all seventh and eighth graders study Latin. We have
high standards for our students, but they consistently meet and
exceed our expectations because of the support of teachers who
are creative and diversified in their teaching methods. Small class
size allows for lots of individual attention. In addition to classroom
learning, students explore and discover their talents and abilities
in a wide variety of clubs and activities – including music,
art, theater, and athletics. After the eighth grade year, your child will have the academic ability, intellectual curiosity, and character to succeed in the challenging college preparatory program of our Upper School.
