The Annual Fund
Issac Asimov observed that the precursor to most discoveries is not “ Eureka!” but “That’s funny…”
What does it cost to plant the seed of intellectual curiosity? Review our brochure and learn for yourself what it takes to support the challenging environment of the Academy. Your gift toward our $225,000 goal will show our students that you care about their learning, growth, and discovery. G ive with your heart and open their minds!
While Annual Fund gifts provide operational support for the current school year, gifts to Endowment provide perpetual funding for scholarships, academic programs, faculty compensation and building projects. Endowment contributions are invested to provide income to the school every year, forever. Talk about a great way to have impact beyond your lifetime! Gifts can be made to an existing fund or you may want to establish your own named fund. Contact us to discuss establishing a permanent fund named for your family, your children, or in honor or memory of someone important to you (e.g., children’s grandparents or a favorite teacher).
In particular, gifts to scholarship – either through Annual Fund or Endowment – provide a wonderfully diverse mix of voices, talents, and experiences to our student body. Watch Danny and see for yourself….
Giving to the Academy can take a variety of forms:
Cash Gifts – Gifts by check or credit card are gratefully accepted and fully tax deductible.
Stock or Securities – A gift of stock provides an income tax deduction for the fair market value of the stock and, if you’ve held the stock for more than 12 months, you’ll avoid capital gains tax.
Matching Gifts – Businesses often support the community by matching their employees’ charitable gifts. To find out if your company would match your gift to the Academy, contact your Human Resources office.
In-Kind Gifts – Gifts of goods and services are always welcome. Let’s talk about how the school can best use what you want to provide!
Planned Gifts – Plan your legacy by discussing the following giving vehicles with your professional advisor(s) and the Alumni & Development Office:
- a bequest in a will or codicil;
- life insurance – designate the school as the policy’s owner and/or beneficiary. If you continue to pay premiums on a policy we own, you can deduct the premium payments.
- charitable trust or annuity – you’ll receive an immediate income tax deduction based on your future gift; funding the trust with appreciated assets avoids up-front capital gains tax; and you (or others you choose) can receive income for life.
- real estate – appreciated real estate can be an attractive option for charitable giving. Call us to find out why!
Leaving a Legacy: The Gift of a Lifetime
When you leave a legacy through your will or other estate planning vehicle, you’ll support the Academy well beyond your lifetime. If this sounds appealing, please read the brochure, review this example, then consider how the Academy has impacted you….and how you’d like to impact the Academy. We hope you’ll also agree to join our Seiler Society so that we may recognize and thank you for generously including our school in your estate plans.
Dr. Shelly Myers in the Alumni & Development Office welcomes hearing from you to discuss your philanthropic goals and what you’d like to accomplish for the Academy (717.763.7811 x390).
