Contemporary Authors - Literary biographies and lists of sources for authors who lived in the 20th and 21st centuries. Global in scope.

Bartleby - Great Books Online - Comprehensive publisher on the web of literature, non-fiction, verse and reference works. A trustworthy place to locate classic works. Searchable and browsable.   

Literary Criticism on the Web from the Internet Public Library - Site features links to selected online criticism of major authors in American and British literature. Searchable by Author's last name, title, or literary period.

Project Gutenberg - The Internet's oldest producer of free electronic books (eBooks or eTexts). Over 30 years, by the end of 2002, Project Gutenberg had exceeded 6267 total Project Gutenberg eBooks. 

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare - The Web's first edition of the Complete Works of William Shakespeare.
