Transportation

To avoid traffic congestion before and after school, we encourage our families to use public school district buses. Districts are required to provide students with transportation to school within 10 miles, by road, of their nearest borders. Twelve school districts provide transportation to and from the Academy for students residing within their districts:

Central Dauphin, Lower Dauphin, Steelton-Highspire, Cumberland Valley, Middletown, Susquehanna Township, East Pennsboro, Mechanicsburg, Susquenita, Harrisburg City, Northern York, and West Shore. Camp Hill School District does not offer transportation.

Each student who wishes to ride a public school district bus must have a completed Public School Bus Transportation form on file in the Academy’s Business Office. Please do not send this form to a public school district directly. Generally, these districts do not offer transportation to 3 or 4-year-old students.

Upon receipt of your request for transportation, David Zett, business manager registers your child with your school district. It is important to get transportation forms to the Academy as soon as possible, because some districts take longer than others to process requests.

The Academy asks public school districts to deliver students to school by 7:50 AM and to pick up by 3:25 PM.

School districts inform parents of pick-up and drop-off points and times in different ways. Some mail the information to the home and some post information on their websites. The districts are responsible for student safety and discipline while students are on their buses. Please direct your questions directly to school district transportation offices

Most public school districts will not allow guests (non-district students) to ride buses with their regular riders. To find out if your district will allow additional riders, please speak to the bus driver or call the district transportation office. If a district will allow guest riders, both the parents of the regular rider and the guest rider’s parents must give permission, in writing and signed, to the Academy Business Office in advance.

Academy-Operated Transportation
For Hershey area and Carlisle area families, the Academy is pleased to offer its own transportation for an additional fee. To determine whether space is available on Academy-operated buses, please contact the Business Office at 763-7811, ext. 316.

Seats are purchased for a one-year period (school days only) and are available for one-way or round-trip. This service is reserved for students that do not have transportation provided by their home school districts. For example, for the Hershey bus, Derry Township students have registration priority over Lower Dauphin students.

Please note that the school busing code does not allow any adult, other than school district employees, to board a school bus.
