Since 1784, Harrisburg Academy has helped our students to discover their inner strengths and to develop their abilities in all areas.  The Academy strives to encourage the development of well-rounded individuals and to help students learn to appreciate the importance of academics, arts, and athletics.

Harrisburg Academy is the oldest independent school in the Harrisburg metropolitan area, and we are so excited to be celebrating our 225th anniversary this school year!  Truly it is an exciting time here at the Academy.  We are presently divided into four divisions (Early Childhood, Lower School, Middle School and Upper School) on one main campus, serving approximately 420 students in preschool through 12th grade. Students arrive on our campuses daily from seven counties in Central Pennsylvania. The Academy's student population includes ethnic and international diversity of nearly 30 percent; a wide range of cultural and religious diversity is represented within the community as well. We also provide need-based tuition assistance to over 25 percent of our student body.

As a member of the National Association of Independent Schools, the Academy offers a challenging college preparatory curriculum in a nurturing, caring environment.  The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is a key part of the curricular offering of our Upper School program – and we are proud to be the Harrisburg area’s only school offering this challenging program to college-bound juniors and seniors.  We are interested in those students who can prosper in a rigorous academic program and at the same time, participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities. At any age, Harrisburg Academy is truly an exciting place to explore and discover.

At Harrisburg Academy the application process is “self managed” which means that it is the responsibility of the parent(s) to track the application from beginning to end. Parents should make all appointments, ensure that all information is submitted in a timely manner, and make certain that all supporting documents are submitted for inclusion in the applicant’s file.

We hope this is the kind of school you are interested in investigating. Please explore our website. Better still, come visit us! We look forward to helping you get better acquainted with the Academy and guiding you through the process of choosing a school that is the best fit for your child.

Best wishes and see you soon!
