Leadership gifts can be directed toward a variety of purposes that touch every part of the school and are central to Harrisburg Academy’s mission to provide its students with an academically challenging and globally minded liberal arts education that encourages each student to reach his or her full potential. The gift opportunities below represent some of the Academy’s most pressing needs. These types of gifts are exemplary, and for the donor, often very personal in nature. We hope this list will spark some ideas of your own.
The Leadership Society
The Leadership Society recognizes annual gifts of $1,000 and above given for any purpose during each fiscal year. Leadership Society members with a gift of $1,784 or greater over the fiscal year will be invited to the annual Leadership Society Dinner. The inaugural dinner will take place in Fall 2011 to celebrate philanthropy and leadership at Harrisburg Academy. All members receive special recognition in the Annual Report of Gifts and are invited to special events including Founder’s Day, which is celebrated annually at the John Harris Mansion.

Student Financial Aid
Gifts for financial aid directly affect the lives of many students and enhance Harrisburg Academy’s ability to attract and enroll the best young people, regardless of their financial circumstances. Increased support for the Academy’s financial aid program has fostered diversity, creating a better learning environment for all students. You can support student financial aid by endowing a permanent scholarship. With a gift to the Academy’s endowment, you can help to permanently increase in the number and amount of awards, and broaden the range of students who can benefit.
Faculty & Curriculum Development
Outstanding teaching of an academically challenging program is the heart of the Academy experience. You can support the Academy with gifts that attract and retain outstanding teachers and underwrite key positions and the activities. A gift to endow a faculty position can secure permanent resources. Likewise, gifts for curriculum and professional development can equip faculty and staff to do their very best work for Harrisburg Academy and its students. We can help you identify giving opportunities that most closely match your interests. For more information, contact Jessica Ritchie in the Development Office at 717-763-7811 ext. 390.
