Harrisburg Academy would not be able to achieve its mission without the collaboration of local corporations and the men and women who lead them. Three of our most important corporate connections include Pennsylvania's Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) program participants, Corporate Partner Merit Scholarship companies, and the Academy's own Community Advisory Board. All help play a critical role in the success of our institution, considered by many to be the best private school in Central Pennsylvania.
Each year, Pennsylvania corporations help build a brighter future for a Harrisburg Academy student by participating in the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Crecit (OSTC) programs. These programs allows businesses to directly impact education by designating business tax credits to the Academy. Eligible businesses can receive tax credits up to 90% of their contribution. These tax credits can then offset numerous state business taxes. Since 2001, the Academy has gratefully received more than $3.2 million in scholarship funding through the programs. Because of this support, many scholarships have been awarded to more than 225 students of need who otherwise may not be able to afford an Academy education. The generosity of our EITC and OSTC partners makes it possible for us to share the gift of an outstanding liberal arts education. The strong voice of business leaders from our local community is invaluable in helping the Academy determine how best to serve our families and to reach others interested in a high-quality independent school setting. The purpose of CAB is to give Harrisburg Academy access to professional guidance in its programs and to provide a liaison group between the Academy and the community. CAB membership is comprised of up to 25 professionals from the greater Harrisburg region. Members serve a three-year term based on the academic-year calendar, and breakfast meetings are held twice per year. Recommendations for CAB membership come from the Board of Trustees, administration, faculty, and staff of Harrisburg Academy.
