The Biggest Advantage to Teaching at an Independent School:

Independent schools still value the role of the library, particularly as it pertains to preschool and elementary age children. As libraries lose their funding in the public realm, independent schools recognize that a library staffed by a certified librarian results in higher academic achievement, reading, and lifelong learning.

My Favorite Book:

"After the Fall: How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again" by Dan Santat

Santat's book perfectly captures feelings of anxiety and fear, which many children experience but are unable to express, through the familiar nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty. The asian-inspired illustrations are visually engaging for children and adults alike. This book successfully marries diversity, difficult feelings, and a familiar story in a beautiful, heartwarming package.
