The Biggest Advantage to Teaching at an Independent School:

The teachers are regarded as professionals, experts in their respective fields, and are trusted to create and implement unique, excellent programs.

Why I Love Harrisburg Academy:

I love that the entire staff is dedicated to taking care of the "whole child."  Every adult here participates in helping our students become their best in academics, athletics, and character.

A Memorable Moment at the Academy:

Coming back during college and getting to tell Dr. Joy that I got an "A" in my college physics class.  He cheered, threw his fist in the air, and exclaimed, "I KNEW you could do it!"  The support from my own teachers has never left.  I love being able to turn around and offer the same continuous encouragement and support to other Academy students.

My Favorite Book:
Not even possible to pick a single book.  Of the many, many books I love, these titles are some of the ones I continue to keep.  I enjoy books that allow me into the humanity, struggle and hope of another’s life:  "A Single Tear," "Slave," "The Boy that Harnessed the Wind," "First They Killed My Father," "To Destroy You is No Loss," "The Aquariums of Pyongyang," "Sounds of the River," "Colors of the Mountain," "Mao's Last Dancer," "The Road of Lost Innocence," "The Lassa Ward," "A Dirty War in West Africa," "The Devil that Danced on the Water," "The Bite of the Mango," "A Long Way Gone," "They Poured Fire on Us from the Sky," "A Hope in the Unseen," "Cooked," "Warriors Don’t Cry," "Gang Leader for a Day," "German Boy," and "Arch of Fire."
