Dear Friends,

As you might imagine, our seniors are focused on their graduation coming up on Friday, June 10.  But they aren't the only ones focused on an important goal.

My single agenda is the alumni portion of this year's Academy Fund. My sincere thanks to Academy alumni who already have contributed. Thursday, June 30 marks the end of this year's Academy Fund.

Make your gift now and join fellow alumni who have contributed. Your gifts
- large and small - make a significant difference.  Our students are our purpose!

My special thanks to Matthew Grandon '08, Maggie Goldberg '90, Ethan Titelman '97, Eugene Kim '92, Ilsa Snyder '09, Carl Marshall '65, other class agents, and Steve Stewart for their leadership with our Academy Fund efforts. Please join me in supporting the efforts of your classmates. Help to continue advancing and growing what our alumni community can do for one another, our school, and our students.

Communicating Across Lightyears: Amateur Radio at Harrisburg Academy

by Sean Barnes, Upper School physics and math teacher

At 12:43 EDT on Friday, May 6, the International Space Station (ISS) came over the north east horizon traveling at 17,500 mph. US Astronaut Jeff Williams came over the mic on the amateur radio station to call All Saints Academy near Newport, Rhode Island. The ARISS program (Amateur Radio on the ISS) has scheduled over 1,000 such contacts since the first back in 2000. The waiting list is over a year long, but Harrisburg Academy is taking steps to be added to the list.  Read more...
