Faculty and Staff Positions

Kindergarten Assistant Teachers - Part-time morning and afternoon shifts

*approximately 28-30 hours per week with benefits

Looking for qualified individuals with high energy who love working with young children. Position involves assisting the lead teacher with all classroom activities and classroom management with supervision responsibilities for before- or after- care depending on the shift. The candidates should feel comfortable leading learning activities, communicating with parents, and organizing before or after school activities. Candidate must have education and/or experience working with the early childhood age level. Co-curricular interest in the arts and athletics is highly desirable. Math Teacher (6-12th Grade)

Harrisburg Academy is seeking a secondary (6th-12th grade) math teacher for the 2018-19 academic year. The position entails instruction of and enthusiasm for multiple levels of mathematics, up to and including advanced topics such as calculus. Preferred qualifications are an advanced degree in mathematics or education with a minimum of two years of teaching experience, as well as familiarity with the IB Diploma program. Responsibilities include teaching math classes, extracurricular duties, and advising students. This position will be 80 or 100% FTE, depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate. Coaching opportunities are also often available at the Middle and Upper School levels.


Faculty members at Harrisburg Academy work closely with students and parents to provide individualized attention in an emotionally safe environment helping students to reach their full potential and ultimately attend the natural fit competitive college of their choice. Part-Time Early Childhood and Lower School Librarian

Harrisburg Academy is seeking a qualified person with high-energy and interested in global learning, technology integration and teaching in a Responsive Classroom® environment.  Preferred candidates would have a degree in Library Science or passed the Praxis for Library Science or candidates must have a teaching degree with teaching experience.  Teachers are expected to attend division meetings, a number of school events, and help with student supervision before and/or after school.  E-mail a cover letter and resume to LSPosition@harrisburgacademy.org. Part-Time Early Childhood and Lower School Spanish Teacher

After-School Staff

Harrisburg Academy is currently accepting applications for both areas of our part-time after-school program (Early Childhood/Lower School-aged students and Middle School/Upper School-aged students).  We are seeking individuals who have a love of working with children. The position requires good communication skills, a sense of creativity and enthusiasm, the ability to plan and implement age-appropriate activities, and the skills to work well with parents and community members. Applicants need to be at least 18 years old, are required to pass a full background check, and must be able to adhere to the school's dress code policy. Extended Day Program (EDP)—late August to early June, 2:30-6 p.m., plus special days

Located on campus, the Extended Day Program is a blend of recreational and enrichment activities based around a series of themes. Teachers / counselors who love working with children, demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm, responsibility, and friendliness.  The Extended Day Program helps preschool through elementary school-age students develop both socially and physically through organized recreation and positive encouragement.  We provide a variety of structured and free-choice activities that promote individual and social development.  Daily favorites include crafts, games, and reading, as well as inside and outside play.  Please note that the EDP team also offers child care from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on days when classes are not in session (such as faculty in-service days, parent-teacher conferences, and some school breaks). 


After School Study Clubs—late August to early June, 2:30-6 p.m.

Study hall monitors ensure a safe, studious environment for our Middle School and Upper School Study Clubs (5th through 12th grades). 

 

Essential Functions for After-School Staff Members:
•    Supervise, monitor, and assist children ranging from 3 to 18 years old as they participate in a wide variety of after-school activities, both inside and outside
•    Organize and lead both large- and small-group games and activities that are age-appropriate
•    Clearly communicate and collaborate with all co-workers, parents, and participants
•    Maintain a consistent environment, which includes working as scheduled (flexible schedules are available during program hours)
