Administrator Positions

Head of School (Contract Start Date: July 1, 2019)

As a result of the planned retirement of our current head of school, Harrisburg Academy is seeking a new head of school who will provide strong leadership and strategic guidance in the development of the Academy’s advancement and development interests, working closely with an array of constituencies.  This individual will have the ability to clearly articulate the Academy’s value in a compelling way while helping to grow enrollment, expand planned and annual giving, as well as cultivate grant opportunities.  Click for full information about the position and process on our dedicated Head of School Search webpage. Faculty and Staff Positions

Front Office Receptionist (Full-Time)

Harrisburg Academy is seeking a highly-skilled and self-motivated front office receptionist to manage our front desk on a daily basis and to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks.

 

Preferred qualifications include: pleasant personality, ability to work with various constituencies and frequent interruptions in a collegial atmosphere, deal with emergencies in a timely and effective manner, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, sense of humor, can work independently and be self-motivated. Multitasking and stress management skills are essential for this position.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Welcomes visitors with a positive, helpful attitude
  • Answering phones in a professional manner, take messages, and redirect calls to appropriate offices
  • Answering, forwarding, and screening phone calls
  • Directs visitor to the appropriate person and office
  • Maintains office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk (monitor sign-in sheets; issue visitor badges)
  • Oversee sorting and distribution of incoming mail
  • Offer administrative support across the organization
  • Assisting teachers and staff with copier problems, when possible
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Performs other tasks and duties, as requested or required

Requirements:

  • Successful work experience in a front office setting or in another clerical position
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Customer service attitude
  • High school diploma; additional qualifications will be a plus

Working hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a half-hour lunch. This is a 12-month position. Activity Coordinator

Join a team to carry out all aspects of planning, preparing, and producing successful after-school programs for pre-school through 4th grades at Harrisburg Academy.
Daily activities include time for reading and homework, as well as indoor and outdoor free-play. Theme-based crafts, games, and literacy activities provide enrichment for students to develop both social and academic skills.


During the school year, the hours are 2:30 - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday with the possibility of additional hours on special days and during the summer.


Applicants must be least 18 years old, are required to pass a full background check, and must be able to adhere to the school's dress code policy. Essential Functions:

  • Supervise, monitor, and assist children as they participate in a wide variety of activities, both inside and outside
  • Organize and lead both large- and small-group games and activities that are age-appropriate
  • Clearly communicate and collaborate with all co-workers, parents, and participants
  • Maintain a safe and consistent environment, which includes working as scheduled
