WORMLEYSBURG, PA – Harrisburg Academy continues to rank #1 in Central Penn Parent magazine’s Family Favorite Awards. For 2019, the Academy was the winner in the categories of Best Private School, Best Music Lessons, and Best Drama/Theater Lessons. WORMLEYSBURG, PA – Drew Bitner, an alumni parent and retired member of the Board of Trustees at Harrisburg Academy, accepted the 2019 McCormick Medal at Harrisburg Academy’s annual Founders Day celebration on Sunday. The award is presented each year to one individual who exemplifies leadership and service to the school. Harrisburg Academy Claims Grand Champion and Domination Across CASEF 2019

WORMLEYSBURG, PA – Harrisburg Academy is proud to announce that Alec W. ’19 and Liam D. ’20 were named as Senior Division Grand Champions and ISEF Finalists, the highest distinction awarded at the Capital Area Science and Engineering Fair. The regional Grand Champions are invited to compete in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2019 to be held in Phoenix, Arizona, May 12-17, 2019. Teen of the Week:  Harrisburg Academy Senior Envisions a Future of Self-Driving Cars

'19 taught himself to build robots, and, someday, he’ll be teaching the robots how to teach themselves.  The Harrisburg Academy senior, despite a rigorous schedule of regular classes, has devoted much of his high school career to extracurricular work in robotics and machine learning, with the ultimate goal of helping to develop self-driving cars.  Read more...

The Board of Directors of Harrisburg Academy is pleased to announce that Mr. Adrian Grant Allan will serve as the next head of school, effective July 1, 2019. He will succeed Dr. Jim Newman, who is retiring after 16 years.

Most Americans have visited just 12 states, according to a 2016 study conducted by the global marketing firm, Ipsos Public Affairs.  There is one Harrisburg Academy student, however, who has been to them all.  In December, Charlotte N. '19 touched down and celebrated her 18th birthday in Hawaii, completing her goal to visit all 50 states before turning 18.  Read more...

UPDATE: Social Media Threat Not Credible / School Will Reopen on Tuesday

This weekend, one of the Academy’s students received an Instagram message from someone she did not know informing her to not go to school on Monday. The concerned student shared the message with the Academy’s administration, which contacted the East Pennsboro Township Police Department. Aquaponics Lab

Harrisburg Academy Receives Mobile Aquaponics Laboratory Donation
WORMLEYSBURG, PA – Harrisburg Academy is pleased to announce an anonymous donation of an INTAG mobile aquaponics lab – valued at $1,700 – to be used in the Academy’s Kindergarten through 4th grade science laboratory.  The aquaponics system is a simple concept that consists of a fish tank, media bed, light, automatic fish feeder, and test kit. It will house colorful aquarium fish and can be used to grow small herbs or low maintenance houseplants in a closed, symbiotic ecosystem.  Read more...

Teen of the Week:  Harrisburg Academy Senior has Passion for the Environment

For many students, pursuing their passions can mean opening them up to new opportunities.  For Hayden Q. '18, a senior at Harrisburg Academy, pursuing his passion for the environment has given him the opportunity to travel to new lands.  In July, Hayden traveled to Peru on scholarship to, among other things, help build greenhouses for the local community.  “(I’m probably most proud of) the service part of my Peru trip,” he said. “I know it had such an impact on those people’s lives.”  Read more...

Harrisburg Academy Teacher Receives $500 Grant from James Patterson and Scholastic Book Clubs for Classroom Library

 WORMLEYSBURG, PA – Harrisburg Academy congratulates Lindsay Bowman on winning a $500 grant from bestselling author, James Patterson, to support her classroom library. In addition, Scholastic Book Clubs will match each dollar of Patterson’s donation with “bonus points” that Bowman can use to acquire books and other materials for her classroom.
