Amber Hilbish '17Amber Hilbish ’17 began attending Harrisburg Academy in 1st grade.  As a 12-year student, she became well known by her peers and the faculty.  Amber will attend Hollins University, ranked Very Competitive by Barron’s Profiles of American Colleges.

 

A strong student, Amber is an International Baccalaureate Diploma recipient, achieving high scores in English Literature, History of the Americas, and Math Studies.  She received many awards for writing including: the William and Mary Schaffner Award, presented to the student who has produced an outstanding piece of work in creative writing with particular emphasis on poetry (11th and 12th grade); the Ronald Parker Memorial Award for creative writing with a focus on poetry (11th grade); a Gold Key for the Regional Scholastic Awards in the poetry category (11th grade); a Global Scholar certificate from the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg for an essay on Martin Luther King (9th grade); and the Christina M. Murphey Memorial Award, presented to an outstanding member of the senior class who intends to pursue a social science major.

 

Amber participated in several Academy stage productions as well as productions in the community.  She also sang in Upper School chorus and the Susquehanna Young Women’s Chorale.
