The IB Diploma Programme is internationally recognized as one of the most challenging college-preparatory curricula available

Which is why it aligns seamlessly with the Academy's high-quality college preparatory liberal arts format and globally minded mission. Academy high school students may choose to pursue a full IB Diploma or may enroll in individual IB courses to earn a Certificate.
Since 2006, the Academy's IB Diploma Program has demonstrated a clear return on investment for our students and their families. The IB has taught 11th and 12th grade students to ask questions, think critically, and act responsibly within an interdisciplinary and globally oriented context. Teaching more than just a collection of facts, the IB Program prepares students for college and university by teaching 21st century skills. IB students learn to ask challenging questions, develop a strong sense of their own identity and culture, and acquire the ability to communicate with and understand people from other cultures. In short, Academy IB students learn how to learn.

At the successful completion of the Program, Academy students receive an IB Diploma in addition to their Harrisburg Academy diploma. This designation may also result in the student earning college credits by either advancing in their course sequence or receiving advanced standing such as entering as college as a sophomore. Since 2006, Harrisburg Academy has awarded 86 IB Diplomas to its students!
