Senior Receives Presidential Volunteer Service Award
Congratulations to Paige P. ’22! On December 5, which corresponds with International Volunteer Day, Paige will be honored with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) through Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). The PVSA is recognized throughout the U.S. and each recipient receives a signed letter from the President of the United States of America. Paige is one of ten students in Pennsylvania and one of around 40 to earn the SADD National Award for the 183.75 hours of service she completed from September 1, 2020-August 31, 2021. This year’s recipients found opportunities beyond traditional service as a result of restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Paige’s service hours were earned through a variety of projects, both on and off-campus. On campus, Paige was the chief-of-staff for Yearbook, SADD, served as a student ambassador, and managed the Varsity Boys' Soccer Team. Additionally, she is currently pursuing her Gold Award, the highest honor available, through Girl Scouts, leading her to work on many local community projects. She is also a member of the Leadership Team for the Cumberland County Youth Advisory Board, which works with the Cumberland County Drug & Alcohol Commission to learn about, advocate, and education others on the dangers of substance abuse and other destructive decisions. Additionally, Paige attended the Student Diversity Leadership Conference last year to learn about how to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion in school communities through the use of advocacy.
