Welcome to Harrisburg Academy.

At the Academy, our educational philosophy is firmly rooted in providing students with authentic tasks, an inquiry-based approach, and hands-on, collaborative learning experiences. Over the summer, we achieved full authorization to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme for our youngest learners. As noted in the IB’s report following authorization, “The school has further adapted learning experiences to engage students in reflecting on how, what and why they are learning.” During this academic year, we look forward to continuing this standard of excellence in the Primary Years and Diploma Programmes as we implement significant components of the Middle Years Programme, including the Communities Project and the Personal Project, empowering our students to continue their contributions at the Academy and within the greater community.

Our journey to become a full IB continuum school reaffirms our total commitment to implementing best practices and as we create an environment where our students can discover more about themselves as they navigate childhood and adolescence. As they learn, play, and grow, we look forward to watching them not only succeed academically, but also develop empathy for others, self-discipline, and imaginations that will change the course of our future.

Administrators and teachers everywhere recognize the important contributions made by families toward a child’s success in school. There is no question–success at school begins at home, but blossoms through a genuine partnership with families. We look forward to continuing the partnership with those who are already a part of our community, and we look forward to beginning that journey with Future Spartans!
