  • How old does my child have to be for admission?

Harrisburg Academy begins with a preschool program that has half-day 3-day, and full-day 5-day options. We take into account factors other than age before admitting a child to our Preschool program; students are not admitted based on age requirements alone, but students are generally 3 turning 4 during the school year. New student applications to Junior Kindergarten (JK) or Kindergarten (K) for the coming 2020-21 academic year should be 4 or 5, respectively, by the first day of classes.
  • Do you have an after-school program or vacation coverage?

Harrisburg Academy offers before and after-school care for all students, preschool through 8th grade.

    Early Childhood and Lower School
As part of the school-year tuition, Harrisburg Academy offers all Early Childhood and Lower School students before-school care beginning at 7:00 a.m. and after-school care until 5:30 p.m. For an additional fee, the Academy also offers extended care for Early Childhood and Lower School students during teacher in-service days and some school breaks. Please consult the online school calendar for the extended day program's (EDP) schedule. If interested in enrolling in the full-year EDP program, including all school-year EDP open days and summer camp, please contact the admissions office for additional details.

    Middle School
As part of the school-year tuition, Harrisburg Academy offers all Middle School students before-school supervision beginning at 7:30 a.m. Students remaining in the building between 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. are required to participate in the Middle School After-School Study Club for a daily fee of $10 per student or a $100 fee per season. The fee is waived for all students participating in athletics and are required to stay after school for practice.

Students wishing to participate in summer programming will have the opportunity to attend one-week mini-camp sessions with Academy faculty or participate in our Counselor-In-Training program associated with our Summer Day Camp.
  • What are your application and testing deadlines?

Harrisburg Academy is currently accepting applications for enrollment. Our rolling admission process allows for application throughout the year. When a class fills, qualified students are placed in a wait pool until space becomes available. For Early Childhood classes (Preschool, Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten), prospective students are required to attend a Play Date or shadow visit, as part of the application process. Students applying for 1st through 12th grade, are required to participate in a shadow day during which time they complete an admission assessment. We welcome all parents to attend Admission events during the year to learn more about our admission process.
  • Can my child get transportation to Harrisburg Academy?

Public school districts within a 10-mile radius of our private school are required by law to provide free transportation for school-age children. Currently, the following public school districts provide busing to the Academy: Central Dauphin, Steelton-Highspire, Cumberland Valley, Middletown, Susquehanna Township, East Pennsboro, Mechanicsburg, Susquenita, Harrisburg City, Northern York, and West Shore. Other Academy-operated bus routes may be provided on an as-needed basis for selected geographies, and may change annually.
  • Does the Academy have a COVID-19 Safety Plan?

We do. Please click here to visit our Safety Plan webpage and to learn more about how we are keeping our students and our community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the pandemic continually evolves, Harrisburg Academy's Pandemic Response Team meets on a regular basis to ensure that policies, procedures, and protocols are in place to preserve continuity of instruction for all students.
