Lower School student playing a guitarIn a recent survey, a majority of parents in the United States indicated that they would enroll their child in private school if they could afford to do so.  However, most families interested in private education never investigate the options due to concerns regarding the cost.  At Harrisburg Academy, we recognize that choosing an independent school is a major financial decision for families. For that reason, Harrisburg Academy has increased its financial aid offerings to include not only a robust need-based financial aid program but also diverse merit scholarship opportunities.

The Value of an Academy Education

As the #1 private school in the Harrisburg / Hershey / Carlisle market, and the area's only independent day school serving students in preschool through 12th grade, we are proud to be independent.  This allows the Academy to provide opportunities for our students by developing and implementing a community and curriculum that are fundamentally different and better than other education options in the area.

That same independence from local, state, and federal governments, however, makes the Academy dependent on tuition revenue and other revenue sources (like endowment interest and annual giving) to support the faculty and students, as well as the broad range of programs that we offer each day.  Tuition and fees cover approximately 75 percent of the cost of an Academy education, so, like all independent schools, the Academy relies on other sources of revenue to cover the gap.  These sources help to subsidize all students, including those who do not receive financial aid.

Harrisburg Academy enrolls a diverse and talented student body to the benefit of all in our school community.  To achieve that end, we are committed to providing financial assistance to qualified students whose families cannot afford the full charges.  This commitment is supported by our financial aid budget – during the 2017-18 academic year, nearly 40 percent of Harrisburg Academy students received need-based or merit-based financial aid, totaling over $1.2 million.
