Safety Plan

Committed to offering you real school, real instruction, five days a week.

In response to the uncertain future, Harrisburg Academy has developed health and safety plans for the 2021-22 school year. As the school and its community adjust to the factors involved in educating students during a global pandemic, Harrisburg Academy will continue to assess its health and safety protocols in place to mitigate health risks for students, faculty, staff, and administration and will work to maintain relationships within the school community as we support our students emotionally and academically. Our current policies (as of 05.04.22) are listed below.

List of 10 items.

  • Quarantine

Harrisburg Academy’s Pandemic Response Team works to prioritize both the health and safety of our community, as well as in-person instruction for our students. Quarantine is required if an individual tests positive for or exhibits symptoms of COVID-19. If your child is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, we ask that you continue to follow our sick policy and communicate with Nurse Catherman as soon as possible.
  • Isolation

Harrisburg Academy will continue to follow theCDC’s guidelines regarding isolation.
  • Return after Quarantine/Isolation

Upon return to campus, all members of our community must report to Nurse Catherman to be cleared to attend classes or after-school activities. Those returning to campus after a positive test result are asked to wear a mask for five days after their return.
  • Communications Policies

In the event an individual tests positive for COVID-19 within our community, Harrisburg Academy will send a communication to the impacted classroom or division. Case counts within the community will be added to our Pandemic Response Resource Board daily, no later than 5 p.m.
  • Masks

Beginning on Wednesday, March 2, all members of our community may choose whether they will wear a mask while on campus. As the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention does not delineate by age, all divisions including Early Childhood may be mask optional.

Harrisburg Academy allows masks to be optional when community transmission rates are low or medium in Cumberland County as listed by the CDC’s COVID-19 County Check.
  • Daily Health Screenings

Parents/guardians of students are asked to report their child’s health status using our HIPAA compliant electronic health record.
  • Events

In-person events including learning celebrations and parent conferences, as well as community, admissions, and development events resumed on February 17, 2022. At these events, guests are asked to adhere to Harrisburg Academy’s COVID-19 policies.
  • Travel

Harrisburg Academy asks all members of our community to follow travel recommendations from the CDC and the U.S. State Department.
  • Vaccination

Although not a requirement for attendance, Harrisburg Academy’s Pandemic Response Team joins our Physicians’ Advisory Council and the CDC to encourage all eligible students and community members to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Visitor Policy

Currently, visitors are permitted on campus during the school day. During their time on-campus, visitors must be accompanied by a faculty or staff member. Guests may not wander the building unaccompanied.

Harrisburg Academy opened with on-campus instruction on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

Health and wellness procedures, guided by the CDC and state guidelines, have been implemented on campus including increased health screening, use of an app for monitoring COVID-19 symptoms, social distancing measures and expectations, and cleaning and disinfection as well as limitations on campus visitors and careful consideration of field trips. Additional details on updated procedures can be found by clicking the buttons below.
“One thing I can say for sure is how amazing our Harrisburg Academy community has been through it all. We are super impressed with the smooth transition to distance-learning. The teachers have all been positive and helpful in making our children and parents feel comfortable as well.”
